About Mercy Medical Center
Mercy Medical Center, situated in Baltimore, Maryland, has garnered recognition in the U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Hospitals” ratings for 2022–2023. Specifically, in the Adult Specialties, National Rankings, Mercy has earned a High Performing status in Orthopedics. This designation acknowledges care that surpasses the national average, measured by various factors including patient outcomes.
The hospital’s distinctive landmark, McCauley Tower building, located at 301 St. Paul Place, was inaugurated in 1963. This unique structure features an upper portion extending fifty yards above the lower five stories, constructed with tan/light brown bricks. In 2007, Mercy Medical Center received its largest philanthropic donation to date, amounting to over $400 million, for the construction of a new facility—the Mary Catherine Bunting Center. This 20-story hospital, inaugurated on December 19, 2010, replaces the Tower building. It boasts spacious private rooms for all patients, a 2-story atrium lobby, and state-of-the-art operating rooms equipped with advanced technology, including robotics.
